The Ode of Weight Lose

Some women I know are keeps complaining about their over weight, how quickly their body turned big like a balloon, how to reduce belly fat and blah blah blah never ending rants while they don't do anything about it. Just sharing their rants as if they mean it. Some are just don't care their weight as long as they are happy and comfortable with their body. It's our choice anyway either we chose to be discipline or not. I know many people are often choosing the latter part because food is their comfort. Thank goodness I have choice and that choice I made is making me happy also in a positive way. I chose food what's good for me. Sometimes I cheat but I try my best not to be addicted with too much foods-- because I'm vain. You know what I mean? :)

Southern Living

I love to stay outside when it's sunny but warm. Too much hotness can be very danger of our skin. Who would like to stay long outside under the sun anyway? Anyways, today's weather is perfect like the one I mention above, WARM. Very nice. I stayed for long at our patio upstairs after I get off from the bed this morning. I felt good hence my body's ill. Yeah... I'm not feeling good since last Friday my throat is soaring badly plus dry cough. I can't stand it. Well, this shall pass. Hope soon.

I can imagine myself living in a country side with a beautiful natural scenery and an outdoor d├ęcor like the above photo. How lovely! With the backyard like that I would spent more time staying at home than shopping. Heehee Now that is luxury! Can somebody pinch me now? :)

Parisian Macarons

No, this Macarons is not the same as Macaroons with the shredded coconut ingredient. Although both of these are gluten free. Macarons are made of ground blanched almonds with the mixture of egg whites and confectioner sugar, compare it with the Macaroons that are made of shredded coconut and condensed milk. The two are both taste good in a different way.

I familiar with Macaroons I grew up eating it. Until I read from so many travel and food blogs in the net talked about it and that's how I learned about the Parisian's Macaron. Everybody says Macaron is to die for especially the ones in Lauderee, in Paris. I thought this is overrated. But you know how much I love sweets goodies food. I said to myself one day I'm gonna try it. Unfortunately this Macaron is can not be found in mostly local pastries bakery or restaurants in USA. There are only few pastries bakery making this in the country one is in NYC. Well, thanks to the food bloggers out there I somehow found a recipe to bake on my own. I stumbled upon at Martha Stewart website alas the recipe is up there. I had no doubt to try baking it in fact I was giddy and excited. It requires to have electric mixer to bake, and I have none. But that doesn't stopped me there instead I beaten the egg whites by using the whisk manually. I know it can be tiring but I don't care. I planned to make 3 flavors-- vanilla, almonds and espresso. Imagine I have to whisk the egg whites in 3 batches many times. I manage to baked the vanilla flavors almost perfect (see the photos above) I was so happy. Unfortunately my second flavor was unsuccessful. I think the egg whites whisking is the problem the icing didn't came out too thick. That's why the merengue cracked. I was disappointed. I stopped then. After all I had perfect ones. Those were enough for me.

Therefore I conclude baking is not my kind of gig. Although I love to eat pastries that can't be denied but I'd rather to leave it up to the masters and buy some ready-to-eat at the bakery store instead.

As for the taste, it is SWEET. Its good. I have no idea if this can compare to the Parisian Macarons. Wish I tried the original first then so I  know the difference.

Personalized Gift Wrap

Husband and I received a gift from my family back in the Philippines through my girl friend (who happens our neighbor here and there small world, isn't it?) who just came back from her vacation. So anyway, I love how my older sister created the gift wrapped with it. It was very personalized. Her drawings are hilarious. It looks like just exactly who they are. You have no idea how I cracked up loud while looking at it the moment my girl friend handed it to me. Funny how my sister did it for me. Just looking at the drawings is make my day complete. Hehe

Healthy Living

At this day of age our environment has a major affect of our changing lifestyle. Eating habit change into bad and is hard to control. That's why the food we intake is mainly one of the factors of getting us diseases. Unfortunately people are now more cancer-prone diseases. Sad but it's true.  However I believe if we chose  to live healthy  lifestyle that can be prevented of having one. That is why being aware and having knowledge of the food are very essentials for us to live healthy. Eating right by knowing/choosing the right food is the best thing to do. That's why my husband I are now decided to use organic food, cook food instead of eating out more often at the restro. Drink more water and soy milk. Eat more veges and fruits. Organic chips. I eat ice cream and chocolate once in a while but I never go all the way. Exercise.  It is our choice anyway and this is what we chose and will continue to do so in order to help ourselve, to contribute to have good environment for the future generation.

Some people taking herbal medicines for body cleansing. One is colonix using for colon cleanser. As we all know colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.

What's For Dinner? -- Bruschetta with Gorgonzola Cheese and Spring Salad with Orange

For the past three weeks I'd been eating Apple with Blue Cheese salad for dinner until I couldn't take it anymore. I love it, there is nothing wrong with it I thought I could stay eating it for a long run. I in fact tested myself if I could handle eating the same food everyday. Unfortunately my stomach gave up I couldn't even finish the whole plate on my last day. So that's what it, the end of my test. Darn it! Hehe I'd love to stay that way. It benefited me a lot. Like I maintain my weight, I don't have to worry what to prepare for dinner and healthy. Now I have to think different food for dinner that is meatless. No, I'm not trying to  be  a vegetarian all the way although there's nothing wrong with that but I still can't deny or take it away easily being carnivorous in me. I tried my best to stay away red meat, eat more seafood instead. It's hard to stay healthy, noh? *Sigh*

Anyways....

Today, I'm meaning to post here my new found recipes for dinner. It so simple yet the taste was good. Meatless. Found the recipes here. Here goes...

Bruschetta with Gorgonzola Cheese and Honey- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. I used Italian triple wheat baguette bread. Slice it. Brush with olive oil. Arrange on the baking sheet. Bake until the bread is crisp, about 10 minutes. Add Gorgonzola cheese to toasts and bake until the cheese is melted, about 3 minutes.
After its done drizzle the toasts with honey. Serve it immediately.

While baking the bread I prepare the Spring Salad to go with it for my dinner. Here's how:

Spring Greens with Oranges- Whisk the grated zest and juice of 1 orange, honey and olive oil in a bowl. Add arugula, sliced oranges, toasted walnuts and finely sliced fennel and toss.

Here's my dinner plate. Meatless. And soooo filling. Yum!

Seen Through My Video: Saw Grass Expressway

I used the husband's camcorder for taking this video just for a try. Flip Mino camcorder isn't that bad at all. Love the quality of the pictures even though it is not HD. The camcorder is small enough to fits in the pocket just like cellphones. Now that's cool!

In my Makeup Kit

Allow me to share with you guys my makeup accessories. Like many other women I am a fan of makeup too. I have no particular brands, I go for affordable ones and as long as it works on my skin very well.

Here goes my makeup bag handed-me-down from my generous grandma. A Ralph Lauren brand which is very functional, and light.

Before I put on makeup I usually applied moisturizer and wrinkle serum on my face. Remember our skin is very sensitive we need to take care of it as possible we can.

In my makeup kit: from far upper left- Clinique's Pink Ice lipstick, Revlon's Peach lipgloss and lipstick (the two are goes together, I love how it looks so natural. I rarely use them now as these are special edition its not in the market anymore), Rimmel London's Celeb Pink lipstick (this is now my everyday lipstick since I got it. iloveit!) and L'Oreal's Sienna lipstick. I am a hoarder of lipsticks got so many different colours of it. I only show you here what's my so far favorites. In fact I am giving away some of them to my siblings so it won't  gets rotten. Hehe I wear lipstick more often than face powder or other makeup. Just lipstick is fine with me but you know I have to complete the makeup accessories for me to use for any special occasions.

Next are the Maybelline, Rimmel London and L'Oreal's eyeshadow palletes.-- Don't have many colors of it  just have the basic ones. I don't like to wear makeup on my eyes more often I'm not good at it.

Then I have Rimmel London's Gold and Clinique's Pink blush makeup (i love to combine them, it came out like tanish-pinkish cheeks it works on me). Right next are my eye liners from NYC's light brown, Rimmel London dark brown and unknown brand the black tiny one which I got in the Philippines.

Second row from left are my eye mascara curler and cheek brush. The white bottle right next to it is the unrelated topic perfume. Hehe Next to it is the Clinique's eye mascara.  L'Oreal Perfect Match Honey Beige liquid foundation. Iloveit it match my skin tone. Next to it is the Clinique's Beige matte mineral face powder. And then I have this Rimmel London Natural Bronzer powder sometimes I use as blush on or face powder if I want to looks tan.  The ones that's in the middle are my Burt's Bees lip balm (it goes naturally soft and healed chaps lip easily), and  last but not the least is the Neutrogena's Natural stick concealer. So there, my not so cheesy makeup accessories they are in fact very affordable nothing's so fancy.

Easter Sunday

How was your Easter Sunday yesterday?
Mine was great as usual. It has been 3 years already that my whole family were invited for a dinner at our friends house in Pompano City. We went there yesterday.  The Kelly's made such delicious food. A semi vegetarian dishes except the ham. I really do appreciate vegetarian food except I can't swallow tufo. Other than that vegan foods are good it doesn't hurt my stomach when I'm full. Very light. Does nothing to worry about gaining more weight or getting herbal diet pill if you eat vegan food. I enjoyed eating it.
There's no children in their house so I didn't expect any colorful eggs to hunt. We're just having a good conversations after all that's what an adult does.

Meanwhile, I can't resist but took pictures their cat Tiki. He is so adorable, isn't he?

The Hotness and The Long Distance Movers

Now that the weather isn't that cold anymore the hotness turn over. It was so hot outside today that's why I'm having headaches right now. Maybe because my body is not yet adjust from cold to hot weather temperatures? I don't know. It's not even summer yet. How much more in summer? Gosh, I couldn't imagine.

Well, I'm just saying....

Anyhow, let's talk about something long distance moving companies who could help us transfer our valuable possessions if we are planning to relocate either from east coast to California or vice versa. I have found out moveeast dot com been in the business for more than a decade now. So peeps If you need efficiency and quality services from a long distance movers try to consider them. They also provide a guaranteed moving quote with every long distance move.

That's it for me now peeps. I hope you all have a happy and safe weekend.

Julie and Julia

Because of this movie I was fascinated to cook the Beef Bourguignon of Julia Child's recipe. But just reading the entire cooking process makes me dizzy and tired already that's why this cooking project is still in tow. These are my excuses; the ingredients are too many, to cook is too long! I have lazy toshy. haha
Well, Julie in the movie "Julie and Julia" cooked it twice. Her first attempt was a disaster until she  finally mastered it on the second time. She said it was all worth it because the food was amazing. Many good reviews by those people who have tried to cook the food says the same thing that it was all worth to cook because it really does taste good. Sounds like when we have the best wrinkle cream it felts great to share the good news. I believed them that's why I'd like to try to cook Beef Bourguignon and be like Julia Child. Bon Appetit! LOL

If you love to cook this movie is for you. It inspired you to cook more and eat more often. ha! It tells here how French foods are good and unique. I like Meryl Streep here she was actually nominated as best actress for this year's Academy Awards of this movie.

Now, this is the real Julia Child! The master in French cooking.

Speaking In English

Many times I've asked by my coworkers (especially latinos) why I speak English very well (not that I know hehe). Their followed up guestion was always how did I learned to speak English. My simple answered to them was I learned English at our school when I'm studying. Our textbooks are mostly in English except the Filipino subject. They were surprised because in their country they use only one language (of course their native language) at school that's why they find it hard to speak and understand English even though they're here in Florida for more than a decade now. I don't think its a huge disadvantage for them since mostly people living in Florida are latinos. Many establishments and companies own by many latinos. I in fact wanted to learn to speak their language so I can get a job easily . Isn't it ironic?
