Original Miami Zoo

We are lucky enough when we went at Key Biscayne beach parks a couple of weeks ago that has a Crandon park gardens in the same area. Literally, it's just a foot steps away from the Cabana my friends renting. Our friend said (they grew up and live in Miami) this area at crandon park gardens is used to be the original Miami Zoo before they moved the animals into the massive area of some other place in Miami. This place is now a protected gardens though there are still few animals (mostly birds and goose) live here wander around the area that's why they strict us to abide the rules.

If you're a nature lovers, a garden and animal lovers, or in-love with your partner bring her or him at this quaint garden. A very romantic place.

Love this tree. It looks fall season cause the leaves are falling.

Home Security

As I watched a news of my in-laws Direct TV yesterday afternoon in their house I felt sad to see all those people harmed by the twisters in the mid-west. Many people from there have lost their love ones and possessions. It sad to know how terrible their life can be after all these tragedies. Watching news channel is really not my cup of tea its stress me out! There is this endless war in the middle east, earth quakes, floods, killings are very scary. We don't know someone who is knocking on our door, devilish people are everywhere. Sometimes I'm thinking to get a home security system like my friend's been telling me get as what they have in their home security russellville in Arkansa. It help them to have a peace of mind whether they're in or away from their home. In this day and age a home security system is great investment.

Mushroom Risotto

This whole weekend is all about cooking. You see, I don't get bored (not!) when I'm at home. Heehehe This time I finally cook the food that I've been wanting to try eating- the Risotto. An authentic Italian food most common ways of coking rice in Italy.  Dishes of rice cooked in broth to a creamy consistency. The broth may be meat-based, fish-based, or vegetable-based; many kinds include parmesan cheese, butter, and onion - according to wiki. So anyway, I found this recipe at allrecipes.com they have tons of any kind of recipes you can think of.

 Here we go..

chicken broth (which is not in the photo), olive oil, portobello and white mushrooms, shallots, arborio rice, dry white wine, chopped chives, butter, parmesan cheese (optional), salt and ground pepper to taste.

the ingredients

in a large skillet over medium-high heat warm the 2tbsp of olive oil, stir in the mushrooms, and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Set aside when its done.
portobello and white mushrooms in thinly sliced

add 1tbsp olive oil to a saucepan, and stir in the shallots. Cook 1 minute. Add rice, stirring  to coat with oil, about 2 minutes. When the rice is golden color, pour in wine, stirring constantly  until the wine is fully absorbed. Add 1/2 cup broth to the rice, and stir until the broth is absorbed. Continue adding broth 1/2 cup at a time, stirring continuously, until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is al dente (about  15 to 20 minutes).
the cooking process

remove from the heat, and stir in mushrooms, butter, and chives. season with salt and pepper to taste. In the main recipe you can add parmesan but I opted it out cause my husband doesn't eat real cheese. Either way the food is good. And after all the painful cooking slowly, stirring continuously it is oh so worth it. It makes me wanting more. Love this food and so as the husband.

Extreme Couponing

The Extreme Couponing show on TLC I just watch makes me inspired to use coupons of my purchases next time. I couldn't believe what I just saw on that show, one of the featured woman is ended up paying for more than $9.00 only after using all  the coupons she has instead of paying $400 of her total purchases, now that's a steal! That show is very inspiring, however, there are disadvantages is like you get what you pay. You can't get the food or stuff you like. You're lucky if you can! My plan is to collect coupons as much as I could to find which products I need. Right now I am reading a site who explains to me on how to get started on couponing. They really are informative and I get plenty of hints on where I can find legit coupons online. They have few like redplum, and so far I found dropdowndeals coupon codes for Victoria's Secret online sale for this holiday. I have to start digging more coupons tomorrow in order get more savings for grocery shopping. Wish me luck!

Bruscetta

This weekend I do nothing but cook, watch movies, napping, blogging, having a great time of my staycation with the husband and dogs. Today Sunday, we all going to my in-laws house for a change. So anyway, I made Bruscetta for my dinner the other day since I have Baguette left over from a sandwich a made for my husband. Perfect timing cause I am craving of it since it's been awhile I had it. Oh, soooo delish. :)

a thin slice of baguette + a drop of evoo + a slice of tomato + a slice of mozarella + basil + a bit of salt and pepper + a drop of evoo again, then bake a few minutes at 350 degrees in the oven  = Bruscetta

Ginger Tea and Pancakes

The dogs are waking us up early this morning just around 6am. They never stop making noises until we didn't get off from our bed. At 7am I get up went straight downstairs where the dogs are, saw the pee on the floor, I cleaned it off  while the husband is walking the dogs out. Then we fed them, after that I went back to sleep...booooo! It's Saturday, I want to stay on bed whenever I want.

At 10am my stomach was calling for food! Hot drink is good for a morning start. I made fresh ginger tea. Just peel the ginger root, slice, and then boil it. I add a little bit of honey to bring sweetness. Very easy.

Pancakes for weekend breakfast are what we like to have. There are times we eat cereal, fruits, or nothing in the morning (only when we wake up too late). This time is no exception we would love to have pancakes. I have a ready to cook wheat flour pancake in the pantry. Just a plain butter and a maple syrup on it, and fresh blueberries for the sides.

Cleopatra was famous Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt history.  She has a great beauty, and her successive conquests of the world's most powerful men are taken a proof of her aesthetic and sexual appeal. Many women wants to emulate her beauty. And who would not love to know her beauty secrets as well, of course we do. But the Cleopatra I know is the one who made the very successful exotic skin care products from around the world such as Dead Sea products made with minerals and Dead Sea salt. Their company grow ever since, and they develop numerous skin care products, African soap, sulfur soap, mud soap, anti wrinkle creams, mud mask, salt scrubs, lip balms, and many others. Because they pride themselves in highly effective products and personal customer service most of their customers still come back and order from us again and again. Rocky is Back!

Since husband and I are only having a staycation at home this long weekend holiday we accept to nanny our friend dogs. Once again Rocky is coming back to stay with us but this time he brought his brother Max to live with us. We don't have problem of Stormy she understand the situation, as long the two (Rocky and Max) won't bother her she'll okay. Rocky can be very annoying sometimes. He cry sounds like a monkey. Poor thing. Heehee.

Rocky - a crying dog

Max on the other hand is the opposite of Rocky. He's very behave, polite, and sweet. I like him right away, he's so adorable. Very easy to watch. I call him Polar Bear cause he looks like them. :)

West Sussex Cottages and Arundel Castle

Even though I have no definite time when to travel abroad or domestic I still love to make plans. I read a lot on travel blogs, lonely planet, tripadvisor, wiki travel, and Sussex travel guide site to get references and ideas of the places that I wish to travel in the future. Whatever I learned from any of these sites, I gather and save them on my planner. You know I'm not a "city" person- I always love to stay in suburbia where I can get both feels of the city and a bit countryside. But I honestly love to visit the city places too not just the countrysides.

If  ever I travel to UK I'll definitely go to see London, and  love to see the countrysides in Bath and Sussex. Staying in at five or four stars hotels are not on my list, B&B or holiday cottages in Europe or UK are my pick! Living like the locals is what I want to experience.

I found so many holiday villa or apartment online that are very gorgeous in West Sussex where the irresistibly romantic Arundel castle is located.

Arundel Castle and Cathedral

West Sussex is a diverse country, it is well known for its stately homes and castles such as Arundel Castle and Bramber Castle. Staying at one of the West Sussex holiday homes or cottages is a great idea you can feel at home. I found this Dove Cottage in West Sussex very appealing.

Oprah- Until We Meet Again

Everybody at work talking about Oprah and her last show yesterday. They all recorded the show so when they get home after work they can play it and watch. I have no such electronic at home to do the same so I rather watching it on Youtube. Oprah is very interesting person. I watch her show once in a while and I like it. But I never reach into being a follower cause I have no time. When I get a chance I do watch the replay. Yesterday's show was sad. Sobbing moment. I like her idea by thanking her millions of fans out there instead of making super fun ending. I like her message, and I really feel it.

These messages she said are my favorite.

"This last hour is about me saying thank you; it is my love letter to you," she said. "I want to leave you all with the lessons that anchor my life. Every day that I stood here I knew that this was exactly where I was supposed to be. There was many a day I came to work tired, but I showed up because I knew that you were waiting, you were waiting for whatever we had to offer. That’s why I never missed a day in 25 years."

"Everyone has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it," she said. "You have to know what sparks the light in you so that you in your own way can illuminate the world. ... Wherever you are, that’s your stage, your circle of influence. That’s your talk show, that’s where your power lies. … You have the power to change somebody’s life."

Alcoholism

Alcoholism can lead people into serious trouble, and can be physically and mentally destructive. Alcohol use is involved in half of all crimes, accidental deaths, murders, and suicides. There are also many health problems associated with alcohol use such as brain damage (too much alcohol can destroy brain cells), cancer, heart disease, and liver diseases. It is important to note that overused of alcohol will damage your life. Help yourself to get out from this alcohol addiction problem. Make a decision to get help now. There are a lot of alcohol treatment center in Florida and in any part of the states to provide a platform for people to learn and share about alcoholism.

Key Biscayne, Florida

Hehehe Before I off I have here a few more pics of the beach at Key Biscayne.. this will be my last entry of the said topic. I surely will miss that place, and we will definitely go back there next time. I'll make sure to bring my bikinis with me! :)

My Sister's New Home

My sister's happy telling me about their new place in Canada. They moved in Canada for more than four months now and they really made themselves comfortable by renting a home. I really proud of them. They work so hard for a living, and they are slowly getting what they needs, for four months living in the foreign land is not easy. This is a big accomplishment for them. I know how hard to adopt  new environment, new people, new culture, they are so foreign in Canada and yet they able to accomplish what they deserve in a short period of time. Hard work and humility are the key. They work hard for this.

I finally able to see their new apartment my sister sent me the photos, it was nice and spacious. The kids are sharing a room for now until they can save money to get plenty of rooms for them. I like their wood floor it reminds me of our floor the laminate flooring from BestLaminate.net that we got a couple of years ago. My sister and I have the same taste when it comes to that.

Beach Grass

When I saw the sea grass while husband and I walking at the beach shore I told him look babe that's our favorite seaweed! He answered me, nope, go eat them. Hehe So I ran towards the grass...

and what I found were beach grass.. hehe

tadahh!!

Cabana

Key Biscayne island has numerous beach parks we went to the one in Crandon beach park. In there they have Cabanas for rent- each room cost $30 a day. Cabana is commonly known as small hut built with a thatched roof, built in tropical climates near bodies of water. This is not the original Cabana that I am talking about. As you can see this is a modern Cabana has a bit American touch but more of Cuba styles. According to our Cuban friend the original Cabana standing here was built hundred years ago was the old Cuba Cabana styles. It was ruined by the storm when South Florida hit by the hurricanes. They renovated it, and this is what it looks like now.

Each room has a shower room cover with a drape/curtain shower. It has a long table to put on all our stuff, karaoke, TV or motor vehicle. Yap, our friend has one he brought it after he found the ATV Parts and fixed it so we can drive around the island where the original Miami zoo is located. I'll tell you more about this on my next entry.

What's in Kate Hudson & Ginnifer Goodwin's Bags?

I always get curious to know of what other people's in their bags, how much more the actors? No doubt, I would love to see! Tons of people are documenting what they lug around in their bags on a daily basis and sharing the contents online. They don't mean to be brag they did it just because... women loves to know.

MC video online did a good job by making "What's in Your Bag?" featuring random celebrities this time they have Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin. I love to reposted it here.

Shopping and Skin Care Products

Last Sunday grandma and I went to the biggest outlet stores in town- Sawgrass Mills Mall.  She bought a Coach umbrella and scarf  for her sister and daughter-in-law as present when she go to NY next month. I tell you grandma has a good taste. There were sea of people at coach store they had huge sale plus additional 40% - 50% discount of all items. No, I didn't tempted to buy anything over there haven't find any good stuff that I like. I honestly not a coach fan please don't get me wrong I own a bag from coach and that was it. I like to buy another brand so I can have each of every brands. Talking about peculiar. Hehehe

So I went at Neiman Marcus cause they have the skin care products that I need to buy. If only I could live that store. I would faint! Because I am obssess of beauty products especially for skin care. Love perfumes too. You know when we get older we try to do our best to prolong our wrinkles... haayyyy aging! :( Good thing though we have plenty of choices nowadays in store or online store are selling tons of skin care products for anti wrinkle, dark eyes, serum, etc. but I swear I will never do any facial surgery. That's why I take care  of my skin. Anyways, the sale associate of Clarins gave me a sample of their Eye Contour gel I went home and tried the next day. Later in the day I noticed how it work the puffiness in my eye area takes away. Its like a magic. Reading the products reviews help a lot for us to decide if the product is worth to buy like oxytokin reviews for anti wrinkle. But it is always better to try for us to know if its work.

Garlic Shrimp

My husband cringed when he saw the heads (especially the eyes) of these shrimps. I felt bad eating them but I ate them anyway... not the heads of course! :)

I bought these fresh shrimps on sale at the supermarket nearby cause I wanna make the recipe of my older sister cooks that we all love to eat- shrimps boil with lemon soda, add ketchup for sauce with lots of garlic and onion. That's it. Very easy to cook.

My daughter

Written by Fermin Washington

My daughter is one of the most active teenage girls I think I’ve ever seen, and she stays in really good shape. I’m really envious of how naturally athletic she is but I think it’s great she’s got such a productive, healthy habit. I hope she continues to play sports well into her adult life! Last year we got Internet at home from CLEARWIRELESSINTERNET.NET so I’ve been doing some research on how we could use her love of sports to help her make more friends and even score college scholarships. She’s already a varsity athlete at her school so she’s definitely got a good shot of getting in somewhere on scholarship. I think she’s best at swimming but she’s really partial to her cross country team, although she tends to just hang out with the same girls all the time. I’m thinking of having her sign up for an intramural league here in town so she can meet some new people and you never know, maybe she’ll find her next sports “calling” that she can sell to a college!

X-Men: First Class is Coming Soon!

Another Marvel's movie is about to show this June husband and I can't so wait. Too bad Wolverine is not part of this new movie- I know he did his X-Men origin already so that makes sense. Anyway, the trailer looks fantastic I hope the whole story is good. Guess I have to find out.

Key Biscayne, Florida

Key Biscayne

My husband's business partner invited us for his daughter's birthday to be held at Key Biscayne beach in the east of Miami this coming Saturday. I am looking forward on this event because we are able to hang around again with his wonderful family, and they make good food that means I'd be feast them again. Love Cuban foods. And of course I would be hypocrite if I won't say seeing and be on foot at Key Biscayne is not that I would excited about too. In fact I so am looking forward to be there!! A chance to swim in the Atlantic ocean, sun bathing, lying on the white sand, to relax and have fun are all what I want. Chances are the photos op i like! Hehehe

Grandma asked me if I will wear bathing suit. I kinda speechless you know in fact I think about that. I'm not comfortable wearing sexy two-piece yet I have two loss weight first. Aha, since I have no time I think I will consider taking the best pre workout supplement to gets these excess fats in my belly so I can wear two-piece bathing suit. Teehee! We'll see if I can do that.

Selling Jewelries

Aren't we looks alike? Many people gets confused they thought I am adopted. At store or everywhere we at grandma always tell and proud that I am her granddaughter. They always raised their eyebrow. But of course grandma explains that I married to her grandson. Hehehe But grandma and MIL always feels me like their own child, that's how lucky I am.

There is no question that my grandma looks stunning at age 86. And there is no lie that I admire her in so many ways talking about fashion we're "in"! She loves jewelries more than I do. In fact she handed-me-down many of her old ones they are pretty good and is still in good shape like the earrings and bracelet I got from her. I told her she can make money by Selling Gold Jewelry at the mall there are many gold buyers in there but then again she said that's not her purpose, she wants me to enjoy wearing those vintage jewelries. Isn't she sweet? She is. I love grandma's bling-blings. :)
